In another forum I participate in, a recent big post milestone was done to honor the founder of the site (who has since passed away). In order to make sure that the 200,000th post was this special post, others were encouraged to hold off a bit in the runup to that post, and then one of the admins posted a few posts with subject lines 10, 9, 8, 7... until the magical number, and then the queued special celebratory post which linked to a tribute to our founder was posted at just the right time.
I didn't hear about anyone doing any coordination leading up to post # 1,000,000 here, so it passed without a fanfare. Too bad.

I didn't coordinate anything but I did participate in a thread about this topic a number of weeks ago.
