I have written about this previously but to my knowledge nothing ever gets done except for the standard forum answer, "You can will it to someone else, pay$20, etc." or, "Just give your account password to a survivor." But that one-size-fits-all solution just doesn't stretch far enough.
Here, for example, is how Google handles the situation:

To my way of thinking, we need some controls over our content after we (ahem) move on. Maybe I want it all destroyed. Maybe I want portions available to certain schools or other institutions. Maybe I want it maintained for x years, and then, if no one wants it, destroy it. Maybe I want it archived in perpetuity (for a price, of course). Maybe I want just my Notes available for future scholarship. Maybe I want all forum posts deleted but certain FL Group participation posts preserved. Maybe I want it archived privately, but available (for a fee). Also, can FL or any other, future owner ever claim rights to my content after I am gone?
And so forth - you get the idea.
