Linking to books in library

I may be confused.  I had thought one of the advantages of buying books (not commentaries) from Logos was that then they could be linked in someway so that when looking at a passage you would know that you had a book that dealt with that passage.  However, I cannot find that there is any link between the books and the bible text.  I have specifically looked at a passage I know is in a reference book, made sure that everything has a link ID letter of A including the passage guide, but can't find any reference in the passage guide showing that this passage appears in a book that is not a commentary and don't even see books as a category to be linked.

Is there another way to do it?  Or does it just not support that?  If it doesn't support linking, why would you then buy the books within Logos, what advantage is there?

I didn’t quite follow all of that, but it seems that you are wanting non-versified books to sync and follow along with your bible. They don’t. 

What advantages are there to Logos? With other ebooks you can search a SINGLE book. With Logos, you can search your library (all of your books at once). While you can’t sync regular books as you have suggested, you can search a single book, a collection of books, or even all of your books for that reference.

For non-versified resources, such as monographs, the way we can include them in a Passage Guide is via the "Collection" section - some details at https://wiki.logos.com/Passage_Guide#Collections_section or see the help file

Example Please:  Reference book, page number or other way to find quote, a two or three line quote of the text.  Bible Version used.  Bible Reference:  Book, Chapter, Verse. [[That is please give us enough information as to why you think that there should be some link between the two.]]

Some books, such as Bibles and commentaries are versified (that is, you can type in Bible reference, and they can jump to that passage). These books can be linked to your Bibles in a link set.

Books that are not versified (such as dictionaries) cannot be added to a link set with a Bible. (Dictionaries can be linked together, of course, just not to Bibles.) If you think about it, it wouldn't work in practice, even if it was possible. You'd find these books jumping all over the place whenever you scrolled the Bible, and even then it wouldn't cope with the issue of a passage being mentioned twice.

Nonetheless, it's possible to do something close to what you want:

1. Create a collection of the resources you want to be searched. You could use the rule * ANDNOT type:(bible,commentary) as a rough approximation to all non-versified resources, although you'll probably want to be more specific than this.
2. From the Guides menu, select New and choose "Make a New guide".
3. Make sure Kind is set to "Bible Reference", and then click on Collections in the right-hand column.
4. When the Collections box appears, choose the collection you created in step 1.
5. Click on 'Untitled Guide' at the top, and give your new guide a name. Now close the Guide editor.
6. From the Guides menu, open your new Guide.
7. Change the linkset of this guide to the same as your Bible.

Now, as you move through your Bible, you'll get search results for that reference in all the books specified in your collection.
