Seeking recommendations for an external monitor for Logos and Bible study

I have an Apple-refurbished 2018 13” MacBook Pro (2.3 GHz quad-core, 16GB RAM, 1TB SSD) that is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. Because the computer is replacing my ruined larger-screen 15” MBP (backing over your computer bag can do stuff like that), I’m considering an external monitor. I’m looking for recommendations for a quality monitor (perhaps 24” or above) that will crisply display the document I’m working on and Logos 8 in a split-screen sort of arrangement.
Any insight is much appreciated.

Your best bet is to go and look for yourself. Monitors (like TV’s) are often sold as exclusives to particular stores. BestBuy will sell model xcv2A and Walmart will sell xcv2B. Furthermore, what one user appreciates about a monitor, another can’t stand. It is highly subjective.

I picked up one of these - https://www.bestbuy.com/site/lg-27ul600-w-27-ips-led-4k-uhd-freesync-monitor-with-hdr-silver-white/6329956.p?skuId=6329956 (last year's model) for home to use as an external for a SurfacePro. The MiniDP (what I think Apple calls Thunderbolt) - DP cord that I got from monoprice (https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwio-cbzu7fjAhUKvsAKHU_dA_YYABAKGgJpbQ&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESEeD21sMRkfuNALHBAZyD1AiO&sig=AOD64_2bWCdVZGFSUACCIZsrnVU9m5rA2A&ctype=5&q=&ved=0ahUKEwi51bjzu7fjAhUIac0KHYlBDXwQ9aACCDo&adurl=) works great!!
I loved the seamless way it allows me to work in Logos so much that I bought another one for my office.

Thanks, JT. My concern is with the issues I’ve read about concerning scaling for retina Macs. Not to trivialize your suggestion, a good one, but it may look great at Best Buy, but will it be connected to a 13” MBP? I would like for the fonts on the monitor to look as crisp as my MBP (taking into account that it’s a bit more distance).
This whole monitor idea seems wrought with issues, from what I’ve read on MacRumors forums. Fuzzy fonts seem to abound.

Thanks, David. I’ll check that out. It looks like a good one.

yes, but that bolsters my point, not diminishes it. Ask to see it hooked up to your computer.

Thanks. I had no idea one could do that.

I have a 4k 32" from LG, which took a price dive today down to $319. I like it enough that I'd buy a second one, except my 2013 laptop won't support it.
It's a ton of high-def real estate, which is great for non-English fonts and extended screen reading.

Thanks, Ben. That is a good price. What computer are you using with the LG 32"? Are the fonts sharp (crisp)?
Edit: I just noticed the "2013" part. I have a 2018 15" MacBook Pro now. I returned my 13" to Apple because Costco ran a sale and I was able to buy a 15" for the same $1999, having to step down from 1TB storage to 512GB, which still seems very sufficient.

I'm using a 2013 13" MacBook Pro, connecting with the native HDMI port. The fonts are crisp and large, at least how I have it configured. I'd buy a second one if my computer could support it.

I see. I totally misread your post! Two 32" monitors--I can hardly grasp it. [:)]
