Closing a book in Android

Can someone enlighten me.

How do you close a book in the Android mobile app? I find it a bit annoying that the app opens up to the last book rather than the home page when I return to it. I assume this is because the reference is "open"

Thanks in advance.

I am not an Android user, but I assume this is the same as on iOS. In the tab picker, simply swipe up to close the tab.

No, and you can't close all tabs. You can close all but one. In the old version of the app there was a setting you could choose to open to the homepage. The primary purpose of that feature was to help open the app in case of crashing (i.e. because of a corrupted resource). On iOS there is now a "reset workspace," which I think accomplishes the same purpose (to get around some crashes), but I am not sure if you would end up on the homepage or not.
