Page numbers in iOS app

Anyone know how to generate these in your library resources? I like to have those handy for study citations, and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get those to appear on my iPad when I'm using the app.

IF the resource has page numbers, they will be in the locator bar. If the resource is a “Logos” edition, it probably should. If an eBook edition, than it is unlikely

Welcome to the forum.

You have run into one conundrum's of using e-media and the concept of page numbers in particular.

I take it that you are looking for somewhere to report which page you would be on if you were reading the resource on paper. On paper the page is fixed and you always know what it is (subject to the vagaries of various editions of course)

Using e-media what page you are on will depend on the size of your screen, the resolution you are scaled to (and depend on you using page view rather than scrolling view).

I am not aware of any way of getting the information you require other than double checking with a hard copy.

If the resource is a "Logos edition," the locator bar shows this. If the screen shows more than one page, it will indicate the two page range. Scrolling through can often help determine which specific page. 

If the resource is a Faithlife eBook, it will almost certainly not have page numbers.

Another suggestion: Use books.google.com to see if you can find the page number. If that doesn't work, there are alternative methods of citations which do not require page numbers. It would be good to ask your instructor.

I wonder what the principle is. On my ios mobile, every one of my books I'm reading (7), has the page number, except Bible-based, and lexicons.

BTW, the layout (?) view also shows the page numbers.

JT, how can I tell the difference between a Logos edition and a Faithlife book? Using a couple commentaries that I purchased through the Logos app (albeit back in version 6 or 7, probably). I know they are in there, because sometimes I scroll through and it shows page numbers. But when I'm looking up stuff, I'll type in "1 Corinthians 5:1" (or whatever) on my iPad and can't get it to switch back to page numbers.

Would downloading the resource directly onto my device make any difference?

Notice the X beside the verse reference? Click that to clear the verse, scroll or flip the page slightly, and the page number, if available, will show in place of the reference.

You probably can't tell via the mobile app. So how can you tell? 

1) You can tell when you purchase the resource (*most of the time. See below). Logos edition resources are for sale on Logos.com. Faithlife eBooks (FLEB) are on ebooks.faithlife.com. 

2) After you purchase, you can use the desktop library to see "type"

*There are a few Logos edition resources which are cross listed, but there are no FLEB books on Logos.com. When purchasing from FLEB, you should assume it is not a Logos edition.

Myke deciphered your particular issue. The "location bar" will show page numbers for basic books, but Bibles, commentaries, dictionaries, etc. have multiple means of being indexed. Most people are more concerned about the biblical reference <most of the time> in bibles & commentaries. If you press the "x," the page number will appear after scrolling.
