On the "Result Map" after selecting "Graph results" I see some gray lines or bars besides the colored bars for the hits. What are the gray bars for? Are they book dividers?

I believe so.
The gray bars mark places you visited recently in the Bible. So if you were just in John 1 and then went to Genesis 39 and then went back to Acts 17 you'd see gray lines at the places you visited. Hover your mouse over them and a snippet of the scripture pops up. Don't ask me how persistent they are, I don't know.
I was annoyed by them and was one of many who asked for a way to turn them off (they sometimes get in the way of clicking on the scroll bar). Logos graciously acceded to our wishes.
If you'd like to turn them off, open Tools:Program Settings and choose 'No' for 'Show auto and favorite book marks'.
Sorry. I didn't read your question correctly. MJ gave the right answer to the right question.
