Hi there I recently moved the IVP Reference Collection to a new computer. I have got details through the Logos support and updated to Libronx 3.0g, and I'm working on Windows 7 64 bit system. This has worked well with the IVP books but on my old work computer I also had unlocked the book of an old copy of a Nelson's Basic Edition that i own. So when I opened the IVP - and the books were there and unlocked.

Since moving to this new computer and updating the books on the Nelson's CD are locked when I open Libronx. I only have the CD cover the box is long gone and with the any numbers. I can't load the Nelsons separately cos it doesn't work on 64-bit.

Is there anyway I can open these books some of them like the Nelson's dictionary and the language books were really helpful.

Thanks Dale

If you had access to the Nelson resource in Libronix on the old
computer you need to Synchronize Licences on the old computer first and it would be a good idea to perform a Backup Licences.. to removable media (these are on the Tools | Library Management menu). Ensure you copy the resource from the old computer to the new (or from the CD which you appear to have).

Is there any other way - it was on my old work computer as it was left at work and I deleted everything of it before I left.

It sounds like you have the Nelson books already loaded on your new computer. Is this correct?

As to getting access to them, I don't know if they can help, but you could call Customer Support at Logos. Your situation highlights the importance under 3.0 of either synchronizing your licenses or backing them up to removable media. Without a license all you have is a useless CD. If Logos can't help you and you can't locate a license file backup somewhere or find an unlock code, I'm afraid the only option would be to repurchase the resource.

I had a situation like this with an old product whose installer wouldn't work on my 64-bit Vista. I had to go to a Windows XP machine (fortunately, I still had my old one) and install it on that, do all the license synchronization stuff, and then Logos 4 on my Vista machine was able to recognize that I owned the resource and download it for me from the server. If you don't have an XP machine at home, see if you can find a friend who has one that you could install Logos 3 on just temporarily, long enough to get this working. (Just pop this CD in and the installer should install Logos 3 for you; you don't have to bother with the step of copying this resource from the CD to the hard disk; but you do need to do Tools > Account Management > Synchronize Licenses) Then once you are sure it is downloading fine on your own computer, you'd have to uninstall it from your friend's machine since Logos licenses are only for one user to use the software.

Seems the problem is that the OP did not sync or backup his licenses and does not have the unlock code, so loading L3 on another machine would get him no where.

If he has the unlock code then your suggestion is a great one.

BTW: Nelson's Basic Edition is still available but under the title The Essential Bible Study Library. It now has 35 titles included and can be found for as little as $12.00. I don't know if it will install with a 64 bit system, but it it quite a bit newer product than the Basic Edition.

If he bought it directly from Logos, they should have a record somewhere of his purchase and could probably generate a new unlock code for him. If there is no evidence anywhere that he's the legitimate purchaser of a copy of this CD, then he might be out of luck.

Dale, I'd suggest you call Logos Customer Service and explain the situation to them, and they'll do the best they can for you. They're a very customer-oriented company.

Hey all thanks heaps for your help (especially Rosie Perera) - just to let you know I did get the problem sorted.....I was able to load the old Nelson's software on a Vista (only 32 bit through) computer - I then downloaded Libronx 3.0g and then activated and synchronised the licenses - on that old computer. I then went back to the new computer where I again synchronised and - what do you know all my books are there. I better add that I had emailed Logos support who had given me a confirmation code that allowed me to activiate. So all is as it was which is great. Except that I did have the new edition of the NLT which I'm sure they were offering as a free download at some point - looks like it is not free anymore, but I'm happy to pay for the update.

    Anyhow thanks again all

    God Bless
