Clippings vs Notes, help please

I'm trying to understand when each tool is more appropriate. When i'm doing Bible Study i usually use the Notes Tool. After watching a video on using the Clippings Tool, i'm having trouble getting a handle on uses for both these tools. Is clippings more for excerpts of books i'm reading, while notes is more for sermon or teaching prep and study?

I'd sure appreciate some examples of how you use these two tools.

I use both clippings and notes in my sermon prep.

You are right that clippings is for excerpts or quotes from resources, I use notes for "my thoughts/observations/questions"

I concur with David.

If I were preaching regularly, or back in school, I would use clippings to create a list of quotes or portions of the text which I would refer to or think more about in the process of writing a sermon (or paper). I would use notes for my own ideas which I want to be reminded of while reading a text (scripture or otherwise). I would use them similarly to “notes in the margins” in ye Olden days.

FWIW - I dont Think I would ever write a sermon for paper directly in Logos. I have not had need of the sermon builder, so I reserve judgment on that.

I use clippings to gather all of the materials from commentaries, helps and quotes that I'll want to use for the next sermon. I use notes as long-term items I want to remember about the text. Some of my clippings may make it into my notes.

I use Clippings for a Bible Study, where I may print copies for the participants (after editing in Word). My clippings may be a a bible passage as well as other quotes, and I use the Notes part extensively for my topic. I don't use the Notes tool.
