William Barclay like Commentaries

I read with interest the replies to this question, previously posted, but wonder if you have any suggestions for on-line Old Testament commentaries in the same spirit as Barclay's? I don't imagine everyone agrees with his point of view all the time, me included, but the quality of that which he writes evidenced the Spirit of God and his love for his readers. Thanks for the help, Carlos

Michael Eaton has written commentaries on every book of the Bible. Although underpinned by a high level of scholarship, they are written in a straightforward, uncomplicated and practical style. They are ideal for personal and group study and for preaching outlines. Michael was evangelical, reformed, charismatic and although British by birth he pastored in Africa.
Many of these commentaries are available to read online as per your question.

Greetings Carlos and welcome to the forums.
I am reading through 'Old Testament for Everyone' by John Goldingay.
You might like to give this a look. Good analysis of what it meant then and how it can be applied today/

The first 2 suggestions are ok, but don’t even come close to what you want. Here’s exactly what you need:

Hi Carlos,
Welcome to the forums. I have the set referred to by DAL above in Logos To be honest, I do not find it to be the same standard as the NT commentaries and it is not written by Barclay. What I like most about the NT Barclay commentaries is the history and background provided. I think the Mentor Commentaries do a good job with those areas.
