Default NOTEBOOK set to NO NOTEBOOK?

I am adding new notes, but continue to have to input the notebook defaults to NO NOTEBOOK. Since my icon and color from the previous ADD NOTE is the default, why isn't the same NOTEBOOK from the previous the default? Any way to make this happen? Thanks in advance.

    Could you explain a little further step by step what you are referring to and perhaps show some screenshots?

    I couldn't overcome this, even if I opened a Notebook from the Docs menu. It appears you have to select a Notebook from the right-click menu when you "Take a note".
