Weird Go Box behaviour

Currently, go box is defaulting to doing a search on the text entered (i.e. Luke 16:1-13) than my preferred (and I believe default) way of opening up the text.

Is there a setting/command I need to enter to return it to the default behaviour?

Interestingly it works the way I expect when using the web app but not on my laptop.

It is designed to modify the default selection based on recent choices.

So if you persist in choosing the option to open your preferred Bible it should start defaulting to that option.

How many times do I need to persist? Muscle memory expects it to go straight to my preferred bible and so I keep hitting enter straight away with out even thinking.

I‘m afraid I don’t know the details of the algorithm so can’t answer your question

Hopefully someone from Faithlife will comment

    My experience: five times.

My experience. Doesn't seem to ever recognize my desired way of using the command box (i.e. Go to <passage> in preferred Bible).

My experience. Doesn't seem to ever recognize my desired way of using the command box (i.e. Go to <passage> in preferred Bible).

We would need more details, but when the bible reference is clearly a bible verse reference such as jn 3:16 or ps 23.1 it will offer the lookup in preferred bible for me as the first and default choice.

I think there may be a bug regarding book or chapter references (such as Ps 23 or Jn 3) in that the special treatment for possible bible references no longer works. Thus I can train the go box to recognize my preferred way of treating a specific bible book/chapter reference easily, with only one selection (eg. Ps 23), but this will stick only for this chapter not for any bible passage reference (i.e.: it will not offer opening the preferred bible as first choice for Ps 24 or Ps 150). I think this used to work in the past - there was a thread with FL participation - and may be a regression.

Workaround for me: use a verse reference, such as Ps 24.1

EDIT: persisting more (so maybe it's 7 or 8 times) seems to have fixed the go box for "ps XXX" or any other bible book reference with any chapter as XXX or even leaving off the XXX to provide the lookup in the preferred bible as preselected top choice.

I don't know if this is related but I recently had an issue with logos recognizing the availability of the last update. So in order to upgrade, I re-ran the installer as suggested in another forum posts.

I am now running 8.7 SR-02 okish, but this weirdness and a few other little things prompted try running a full rebuild of my indexes using the Rebuild Index command. This does seem to have resolved the weirdness of the Go-To box for now as I am now getting the expected behaviour.

Fingers crossed that this remains the case. My usage of logos has increased in recent years as I have added resources to my library but I don't use it as much as I could. My workflows have been heavily influenced by other software I have used and I approach Logos with a very keyboard-centric approach in mind. The way things were working with the Go To Box and references was not what I was expecting.

Re: Your workaround. I don't have a problem with the format of <passage> as long as it is complete as in

    a) the book title,
    b) the book title and chapter or
    c) a full reference.

If I type something like "Luke16:1-" then I end up being thrown to a search rather than the preferred bible. I kind of expect that to be the case.
