My Notes Test file was compiled to check the working of Notes over various versions of L4. None of them produce highlighting in the resource! New ones act the same, whether by Reference or by Selection.
In the log L4 was started with Notes Test and the ESV bible open in the layout. The ESV was not highlighted at Matt 5:14. Then I selected 1 Jn 4:7 with the same result.

EDIT: It is working in non-bibles (ESL, DBL Greek) - but not in Bibles (ESV, NAS)
