Can't delete highlight

I'm struggling to figure out how to delete a highlight. There used to be an option in the context menu. I don't see it. Spent about 30 minutes on this. Anyone able to tell me how to do this?

I <believe> the answer is as follows:

Click & drag to select a portion of the highlight (no need to select the entire passage). The new menu will pop up. Click the "remove highlight" icon (Ghostbuster sign). NOTE: this is NOT the "right click" menu.

Thank you. I will keep this in mind. I just discovered what I was wrestling with was a visual filter.
