Simplify Tabs

I suggest that tabs would be clearer if they were simplified as in the second case.
Instead of the large sync icons just use different colour dots.
Don't have the small book icon.
Only use the abbreviation on the tab.
Tabs are too deep, space could be reclaimed
Sorry it is not the prettiest of examples, but I hope the idea is clear.

Not sure what the way forward is but I second this idea of working on redesigning the way tabs work. 

They seem clunkier than other software I use when you have multiple open, the 'X' area is very broad and I many times accidentally press it. 

I'm not a software or graphic designer so I'll leave that to the professionals but I would welcome some quality-of-life style updates to them.
