I'm messing around with the new COM API added since the 4.0d Betas.
As I see some of the things people are asking to be built into Logos4, I see some that can be "solved" already, using the COM API. Or in other cases, a near work-around.
I'm not against Logos adding all kinds of new stuff to their application over time. But I also understand there is already a long list of features waiting to be completed, and many ideas I'm sure they have, but we know nothing about.
What I'd like here please, is a few ideas of things that might be possible if some kinds of things could be made "automatic", or "macros" or such like.
At present, a few ideas I'm messing around with are:
- Keeping track of what I'm reading, and what pages I've read and when.
- Seeing what resources were just updated, after a download completes. (We still want Logos to "fix" this, so this is a work-around.)
- Interacting with the Windows Clipboard after each time Logos4 copies something there, for format conversions of whatever. This should make it possible to add full footnotes in Notepad, by converting the Word RTF format to something plain.
- Using an idea Mark just made in another post, make it easy to open some other work(s) to a matching place. e.g. Open a Commentary to the current Bible verse, with few clicks or keys.
- Maybe adding something to create complex searches, prior to whatever cool things Logos will do in due course.
Really, just some ideas please. But they can only be limitied to some basic stuff about Copy/Paste, Open some resource, remember a place marker, shortcuts, stuff like that.
I'm just putting this out there to see what happens ...
