Faithlife: Please consider this request regarding L8 “Go” Button

I appreciate the speed and performance improvements in L8, but several UI changes have been disappointing. The following issue has been especially troubling to me:

The bright green “Go” button to the right of the merged Go/Command box on the desktop’s main window is very distracting to my eyes as I try to focus on resource text below it and perform other program functions. It is so distracting that I’ve had to resort to hanging a small strip of cloth from the top of my monitor to cover this button.

This issue has caused me to generally avoid using the L8 Go box, relying instead on saved custom layouts and other shortcuts. In my opinion, the Go box does not even need an accompanying Go button since one can either use the enter key or mouse click on their desired choice from the Go box’s drop down list.

Please consider any one of the following suggestions:

(1) Change the L8 merged Go/Command box back to the appearance and behavior of L7 with its Go box and button on the home page and separate Command box (with no button) on all other screens.

(2) Or, please allow users the option of hiding the green Go button if they desire.

(3) Or, in addition to having a “hide Go button” option, allow users to change the Go button’s color if they wish from a list of several choices (to include an unobtrusive shade of grey).

I believe adding even a minimal amount of UI customization options (including but not limited to any I’ve suggested above) would benefit Faithlife through increased sales since it would accommodate the various vision needs of more people.

Overall, I love the program but my eyes cannot tolerate the bright green Go button and no UI customization option currently exists to overcome this problem. This situation has prevented me from making several previously planned large purchases and for the first time has caused me to be concerned about my long-term Logos investment.

Faithlife have invested considerable time and much thought into the function of this merged box, so I can't see them reverting to the old interface.

Faithlife like the green button (earlier attempts to change it were not successful)!

But, I would support either of these options.

My dad was once annoyed by a red high-beam light on his car dash. Too red. Too bright. So, he put one of those little round bandaids over it. I think the bandaid trick might work for covering the little green Go button.

Yes. Although ideally, I would love to see Faithlife change back to the appearance and behavior of L7’s separate Go and Command boxes since in my opinion that design was superior in every way, I acknowledge they would probably be unwilling to do that due to the significant amount of time and resources already spent on the new merged box.

Thanks GaoLu. That is essentially what I’m doing with the small strip of cloth I hang from the top of my monitor. It’s a shame I have to do that but it’s the only way I’m able to use the program now since “upgrading” to L8. It’s an imperfect work-around but not a long-term solution.

Of the three potential solutions I listed in my original post, I realize Faithlife is unlikely to change back to the L7 Go box design. I’m therefore revising my request at this time. Faithlife please consider either one of the following suggestions which I continue to believe would be realistic and feasible solutions to this issue:

Allow users the option of hiding the green Go button if they desire.

Or, in addition to having a “hide Go button” option, allow users to change the Go button’s color if they wish from a list of several choices (to include an unobtrusive shade of grey).

Adding a few UI customization options such as these and others to the main window as well as the resource panel would serve the vision needs of many current and potential customers and is something which I believe is long overdue.

As a postscript to this thread: as of the release of Logos/Verbum 10, the old green GO button no longer exists.

Dear reader, if you are still dealing with an unwanted bright green button, updating your installation (for free) will solve this problem. [:)]

Maybe the bright-green-go-button person got layed off. Or transferred to the highlight-the-whole-sentence position in mobile.

I slept thru the green embroglio, moving from L7 to L10 pretty much.
