When I am in a Bible, the Context Menu, Information Panel, and Power Lookup put a great deal of data at my fingertips. Most of this data allows me to drill down in the detail (morphology, concordance like functions on people/places/things/regents/supernatural beings ...), some allow me to explore similar events (theophanies, miracles, prayers, parables), and a very few let me explore the larger picture (preaching themes).
Now I compare that to what I have at my fingertips when using my dead-tree Bible or study Bible. I have cross-references which Power Lookup simplifies. I have pericope boundaries which are duplicated in my electronic Bible. I have parallel pericopes which are missing in Logos but available for one Bible thanks to a user shared personal book. I have next larger unit of text (metapericope) from an outline which is in the materials often missing in the electronic Bible. I have links to how the passage is used - lectionary which provides "read with" links and catechism link footnotes.
While Logos/Verbum meets many of my Bible Study for a purpose e.g. Bible Study Lesson, sermons (reflections on scripture), it has barely made a dent into my personal Bible study - which is, by far, the most important use of Scripture. In order for it to do so, it must make drilling sideways and up as easy as drilling down. This translates into data such as the following not being isolated many steps away in guides but rather as accessible as Biblical persons:
- parallel passages - currently in Passage Guide
- parallel pericopes - currently unavailable
- read with (in lectionaries) - currently indirectly available from Lectionary Guide which is a limited subset of the historical information
- next larger unit (metapericope) - sometimes gleanable from the Outline Browser; often unavailable
- dogmatic use - whether from catechisms or statements of faith or ... available only through a Collection Guide on a user defined collection
Please give serious consideration to making these scripture interprets scripture features as accessible as you current drill down features.
