I was surprised, this area is growing, and that the pricing is hefty for libraries, along with admin costs.

Of course, 'renting' has been the question at the big 'L'. Just me, but I can't imagine buying 90% (at least) of the Logos stable. Rent, yes. I bet I'd rent at a pretty good fraction of the sell price.

Thanks for pointing out this article Denise. It adds to several recent topics on the forum. It also reveals some of the challenges that public libraries face moving forward. I didn't realize that it costs more for a library to loan a digital book that a physical book but, I guess it makes sense. Perhaps, as technology and use improves the cost will go down.

Of course all of this speaks to the complexity of what would be involved if Logos ever offered the opportunity to loan books in its ecosystem. Although I would love to see this added to Logos, my realistic meter says there is a very low likelihood of that ever happening. I think that it is far more likely that Logos will offer Carta resources than have the ability to loan books. I'd be happy with the latter. [:)]
