Force Custom Reading Plan Bible Version

I want to set up a custom reading plan to read the Bible this year in a version different than my default ESV. I don't want to change the default Bible, because I want my normal study to use ESV. But I do want my devotional reading list to automatically go to, say, the NIV each day.

How can I tell the custom reading plan to use the NIV instead of my default Bible?

Brian, your default Bible isn't impacted by the reading plan you choose. As you set up your reading plan you can choose which version you want for your reading plan. Just click the drop down arrow beside the version to do so.

That works if I "Generate a Reading Plan", but I want to read certain chapters from multiple books of the Bible on certain days, so I am making a "Custom Reading Plan" and there is no drop-down to select the Bible version. I can set up the passages I want to read each day, but when I click on them, the link is always to the default Bible.

I seldom create custom reading plans but I see what you mean. When selecting custom plans I believe that Logos is looking for open resources. One way to be sure you create a plan for the version you choose is to only open that resource and then try to create the plan. See if that works for you.

Thank you. It seems like that is how it works.  Here is what I did:

    1. Close every resource.
    2. Create a Custom Reading Plan.
    3. Open the NIV.
    4. In the NIV tab, type in the entire resource I want to read on a day. (eg. Psalms 1-3)
    5. Go to Reading Plan tab. Click "Choose an Open Resource." Select the passage reference that has the Bible version after it. ("Psalms 1-3 NIV")
    6. Repeat steps 4&5 for each passage on that day.
    7. Click "Add Session" button.
    8. Advance to next day and repeat steps 4-7.

I have a related question about custom reading plans. I have used the Discipleship Journal Bible reading plan which schedules 25 days for each month, leaving several free days with nothing schedule.

I am now creating the Navigators' Whole Bible at a Time plan which also schedules only the first 25 days each month. I've incorporated reading lists corresponding to the plan.

My question: How can I add free days to the schedule?

(I hope this is the correct place to post this question.)

I was able to create the reading program using passage lists, two for each month of the year, covering the first 25 days of each month. The beginning date of each set of two passage lists is set as the first of the month (January, February, etc.). All this is now in a single reading plan called Navigators' Book-at-a-Time. Here's the link: https://flshare.net/j38qp6 This is based on the PDF: https://www.navigators.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/01/navigators-book-at-a-time-bible-reading-plan.pdf

Great work, Gary. I use that reading plan some years and will benefit from your work. Thank you for posting about it!

Nice. I am always looking to mix it up, beyond my lectionaries and chronological readings. Thanks for building this.
