?? The Lexham English Septuagint, Second Edition ??

Anyone know anything about this? The product page didn't mention any changes. I wonder if it would be worth buying to owners of the first edition? Maybe in a base package later on?

I wonder which one you get ... digital or hardcover?

The date this is available is the release date for the hardback version. Maybe a digital update as well.

Where do you get that from? At top of page it says format is digital. Halfway down page in product details section it says: Format: Digital, Hardcover whatever that means but that is only reference I see to hardback version and is inconsistent with statement at top of page it is digital.
No information is given on details of what has changed since first edition. Seems to me page was rushed to production with no proof-reading or sense checking of details or thought put into what information a customer might want to know about the product.

When I add it to my cart there is no shipping charge added so it's digital...unless shipping would be added later...

I wonder if it was taken from this page?

Here you have the option to purchase either the digital or print copy.

This is correct. When we decided to publish the Lexham English Septuagint in print, we went through an extensive revision and proof to make sure the translation was ready for print. Because the LES is integrated into so many software features, a straight update of the existing resource with these new changes wasn't going to work. We decided to publish a digital edition of the print manuscript as a "Second Edition" alongside the Hardcover release.
For owners of the existing edition of the LES, we will have a free, limited time upgrade period beginning on January 15, the release day.

Will Alternate Texts be revised as well?

Thank you for making it freely available for owners of the existing edition!

I don't understand.
Will the second edition not support the software features? Will the second edition have corrections that the first edition won't get? Will there be two editions on the store, or will the prior edition be pulled?
Thanks, Jake, for any additional answers you can provide.
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

So are you saying the second digital edition will be less functional than the current digital edition in terms of how well it integrates with the software?

Hi folks.
The second edition of the LES had enough edits and changes to necessitate a new version for Logos Bible Software rather than a simple update of the existing version. This also means a new/edited underlying reverse interlinear needs to be integrated. The first edition of the LES will remain as is, the second edition will reflect the text of the print version and have an associated reverse interlinear. Think of it (sort of) like the 1984 NIV and the 2011 NIV.
I think the "software features" that Jake refers to in this thread are those based on the reverse interlinear.

Thanks for the clarification Rick. That's a helpful way to think of it.

If you own the first edition and go to the above link it should list the second edition as free for you... it did for me. Enjoy and thank you Logos/Faithlife!

Quick Note: Not available on mobile or in the web app yet it seems

If I recall, it was set to ship today (1/15) when it was listed alongside other pre-pubs.
It hasn't downloaded on my desktop yet either. I imagine it will show up sometime later today...

I also ordered it but it hasn't shown up on my desktop yet. The web page now shows I own it and I received the standard order confirmation email from Faithlife, so I assume it will show up before long.Kevin Clemens said:If I recall, it was set to ship today (1/15) when it was listed alongside other pre-pubs.

There is presently a note on the PDP that reads as follows: "The production of the digital edition of the Lexham English Septuagint has been slightly delayed. It will download automatically as soon as it has completed production."
Still free for those of us with the 1st edition, so no complaints from me. Thanks Faithlife!

Don't recall an email, but I went to https://www.logos.com/product/188040/the-lexham-english-septuagint-second-edition and the site said "enjoy a free upgrade" (the blue box placed somewhere, I did it from mobile) and I could add it to my cart for $0.00

Well, thank you, it says it's only temporary access. Had no idea. Could have sworn is purchased it awhile back. Must have been in some other package. Oh, well, lol. Enjoy!

I "purchased" it as "free" in the cart due to my being a previous owner, but its been hours and it has yet to come through into my library. I haven't had any update since?
Anyone else having this issue?
I doesn't show up in my phone nor on the online app either.
I rebooted and restarted as well.

So how does this work?
My account said I get a free upgrade, so I ordered it (since it cost $0), but nothing in my library yet.
I am assuming this is because it hasn’t shipped yet (?).
**Edit: Never mind—I should really learn to read threads before I ask questions that have been answered ad nauseum already 😳.

So where's the beef?!!?
I just received this hilarious email from marketing:
"You just received the digital second edition of the Lexham English Septuagint for free."

The latest messages just say sometime this week.
Not sure where you are getting your "latest messages." The week has come and gone. Apparently, it's just a matter of patience. A lot is going into making this the best it can be (one can assume) and turning it into a Logos resource even though it is made "in-house" just goes to show all of us how much effort it takes for them to give us resources.

Why is Enoch in LES?

Because the LES is based on Swete which includes it.

No one has received it which is why the email is so funny. Their main point was that now I've had a chance to read the digital version how would I like to buy a paper copy. Notwithstanding the fact that it was much cheaper last month during their sale and I didn't buy it then (although I was tempted), there is no way for me to have tried it out.

The hardcover of the LES is beautiful! It sits along side Robert Alter’s Hebrew Translation on a shelf of various other translations.
I’m quite curious to find out if the digital text contains the same typo I found in the print version.
Psalm 1:1 ...and does not sit in t he seat of evil persons.

Well, good to know I am not the only one.
Upon receiving the email I couldn’t wait to begin perusing through my brand new Lexham LXX, 2nd. ed.——Which was nowhere to be found 🤨.

We're sorry for the additional delays on the digital edition of the LES 2E. We've been working on the reverse interlinear for this translation at the same time adding some complexity to publishing the resource.
We will be shipping the main resource this week and the RVI will follow in February.

I’m just curious, is there a list of changes from the first edition to the second?

I'm sure you could run a text comparison between the two and get that list once it's released.
