The preface/address is not marked as such but rather is simply "1 Clement" which implies the whole document. This makes it impossible to request 1 Clement Pref-20 which would be the correct reading.

The same error appears in Schoedel, William R., Saint Ignatius Bishop of Antioch, and Helmut Koester. Ignatius of Antioch: A Commentary on the Letters of Ignatius of Antioch. Hermeneia—a Critical and Historical Commentary on the Bible. Philadelphia: Fortress Press, 1985.
