I have noticed this too, but only when the app isn't "maximized." 

Sidenote tip: To take a real screenshot, use one of the following:

• command-shift-3
• command-shift-4
• command-shift-5

The each do something a little different, so it is worth exploring. The quickest one (no options) is using "3"

I’ll try it maximized. And, yeah, I knew if the Mac screen capture, but this picture was sleep deprivation logic on my part 😉
