My "default" layouts (2 column, 3 column etc) have disappeared - gone from my workstation - still there on my laptop. How'd that happen?
How strange! I've never seen anything like that before. I've never heard of anyone else reporting it before. I'm guessing it could be caused by a corrupt Layouts database (Logos4\Documents\{random}\LayoutManager\layouts.db). Before messing with that file, I'd suggest calling Tech Support and report back here to let us know what they told you, as this is something we MVPs should learn how to deal with.
I was thinking maybe there might be a workaround via a command-line way of opening one of those default layouts, but I can't find one documented anywhere. The names of the default layouts are: 1 Tile, 2 Tiles, 3 Tiles, 4 Tiles, Horizontal, and Vertical, respectively, but no amount of typing those or layout or open with one of their names in the command line seems to do the trick. They aren't actually named layouts the way your named layouts are, because they just rearrange whatever tiles you already have open into a 1-tile, 2-tile, etc., pattern. There should be a command-line way of doing this. So if there isn't and someone from Logos is reading this, I'd like to suggest it.
One possible workaround for now until you can get Logos's answer on this: On your laptop, can you drag one of the default tile layouts from the Layouts menu to your shortcut bar (the part of the Logos menu bar area between the command bar and the sync arrows)? If you can, then wait for Logos to sync (or type sync now into the command bar). Now does your workstation pick up the new toolbar shortcut, and does it work?
Another thing to try (this is just a random stab in the dark; yes we MVPs do that sometimes too [:)]) is starting up Logos with the Ctrl key held down, which will make Logos force you to log in again. On the login screen you can choose to open with a blank layout. Check that box and open Logos and see if that fixes the problem. It does sometimes fix other glitches.
There's nothing wrong with your Logos. The screenshot shows you're on the home page. The layouts are not visible on the home page. Once you open a book or more though, you'll have them back when the home page is no longer visible.

You've got good eyes, Thomas!

Wow, impressive. You should have two orange stars! I could barely even see the Layout menu in that tiny screenshot (clicking on it didn't zoom it in larger) let alone notice what was behind it. Being in one's 40s does have its disadvantages...
I'm close enough to the 40's to suffer the same disadvantages. [:)]
I have also run into this particular issue a few times, the first time I spent WAY too much time debugging.
You should have two orange stars!
How many must one collect to trade them in for a blue one?
(Now the answer is provided and out of the way ...)
Thank you, I am now on my laptop, but I am sure that is the reason. Doh !!!
