Logos 8 Hanging/Crashing

I have been having difficulty with Logos 8 hanging and outright crashing on me. It most often happens when I am doing searches. What happens most of the time is that the program will just freeze and become unresponsive to all interactions. I will wait to see if it loads back but it doesn't seem to recover. I have a decent-sized library (4,200), but I know that others out there have much larger ones than I and I think my hardware should be able to easily run Logos without having these crashes as it is a video rendering/editing machine.

My PC specs are as follows:

Intel i7 8700k @ 5.0 ghz

32 GB ddr4 2600 Ram

256 GB Nvme SSD

RTX 2080

What is concerning to me is that it didn't crash like this before and suddenly started this January. It was perfectly fine in December. The only change I made hardware-wise in December was upgrading from 16gb of RAM to 32 and going from a 4k monitor to an ultrawide 3400-1600. Could the ultrawide resolution be a problem? I had heard that not all programs play nice with UW monitors.

This could be caused by a number of different problems. Without logs it is really impossible to try and diagnose accurately. One thing that did catch my eye is that your SSD is only 256gb. How much free space do you have?

If you can enable logging, reproduce the problem, then upload logs, someone may be able to help you resolve the problem.

You can get information about logging following the link in my signature line.

  • My 256gb nvme is pretty much just my system drive for Windows, Logos, and a couple of other programs that need a fast read/write speed, my main storage device is a 1tb WD Blue sata ssd. I will try to reproduce the problem and enable logging.
