As per the screenshot below "Messiah" in John 1:20 is tagged with the peson of Jesus. Is this actually intended?
3bump
But isn't Jesus the Messiah? John 20:31 but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name. The New King James Version (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 1982), Jn 20:31.
I can see the importance of making the distinction between Messianic expectation and fulfillment so I believe an additional tagging of Messiah is needed but personally I would not want Jesus removed from this text.

But it is John speaking - not Jesus - and he is simply recognising that he is not the messiah. So I don’t see Jesus being referred to here - hence the request to remove the tag.
Am I missing your point - or do you see it differently?
Thanks.
