Reftagger not working?

I've started a site and installed reftagger and can't get it to work. It says "sorry" and that it can't load the reference. I can't get it to load on either one of my computers in multiple browsers on different websites either. Is something wrong with reftagger now?

We are experiencing the same thing on our site right now. Reftagger has been working for us for several years, and now half the references won't load, with seemingly no pattern between those and the ones that do load.

I also checked out some of the more popular sites listed on Reftagger that use their software, and it seems to be the case on those as well.

Hopefully the folks at Reftagger are aware of the issue and working on it.

Confirmed. I just wanted to install it on a new site, and then noticed it's not working on my existing sites, nor on the reftagger site in the examples given there.

I have been using Reftagger for years and have been delighted with it; but today I discovered none of the references on any of my pages work. I see others have had this problem this year, so is it still ongoing?

Do you use an AdBlocker? For whatever reason, RefTagger is on the most important ad blocking lists (probably with some malicious intent by the one who added it to the lists...)

It looks like you're using the "old" version of Reftagger, which is currently not working properly.

I've alerted the team to this and we'll work on getting it fixed. Meanwhile, you can work around the problem by updating to v2, which is loaded from https://api.reftagger.com/v2/RefTagger.js; full instructions at https://faithlife.com/products/reftagger/customize

Thank you for your reply, but it puts me in a predicament. I am not a programmer and have only been able to produce a web site by using Serif WebPlus, which is now discontinued and unsupported (and it would be an enormous job to transfer everything to a different platform, so I'm stuck with it). So when I looked at the page on your website for which you sent the link, I could not understand what I was supposed to do. The version of RefTagger I use allows people to select which version of the Bible they want the references to use, and I can access the HTML coding for my site and see that there; but I cannot see where I am supposed to insert the code in the box on your page and what I am supposed to remove to make way for it.

So I don't understand how I update RefTagger on my site to the later version. Sorry to be thick, but I'd be grateful for any suggestions you may be able to give me. I have copied and pasted all the coding on my site to a separate file that I think applies to RefTagger and could give it to you; but it's two A4 pages long, so I won't send it unless you ask for it!

I am so delighted with RefTagger, as it has made a huge difference to my web site - particularly as I am an amateur dabbling in computer programming that I don't understand. So, many thanks to all of you who have made it possible.

Could I just point out, though, that in the drop-down boxes containing the Bible verses, there are now extraneous characters that appear to be popping up inside the text? Not every time, but quite a few times. I don't think it's a major problem and the actual text can still be read easily, but I thought I should mention it to you.
