Limits on History and Search History

Are there limits to how much History and Search History will be retained?

If so, what are they?

Both may be volume limited, but my Search history goes back 2 weeks.

I have a 3 MB database file (history.db) with 1635 records going back to Jan 5th, which is used by the History tool. It has 360 Search records going back to Jan 6th, so I think that Search History comes from this data.

Thanks Dave.. I was also thinking they were connected so I cleared the History but the search history remained. So, not sure how they might be connected. 

What started this question.. I was looking for a search query from a couple of months ago and could not find it however by clearing history in the past might have some effect on search history or search history does not go back that far??

My Search History only goes back two weeks. If want more then look in Tools > History.

If it could be important, then drag a Search into Favorites, where you can create headings/sub-headings to keep track of them.
