Are Bible book abbreviations in the Copy Bible Verses Tool configurable?

For example:

Instead of Ge

I would like to use Gen

Without having to manually edit abbreviations each time I copy and paste Bible verses.

Any help would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

Chuck

CBV is very flexible with bible abbreviations, so gen 2.1 is acceptable (without the colon :)

If you have the tool just try an abbreviation. No pop-up means no-go!

I think that "Chuck" means in the output [rather than as input]  He mentions having to edit after copy and paste.

Yes, David is correct, I do mean in the output. I typically use three-letter Bible book abbreviations in my note-taking and writing. I want to remain consistent with these abbreviations, but I don't want to waste time editing the output every time.

Sorry about that. The abbreviated book names are mainly two characters, using three characters where necessary e.g. Php, Phm, Jos, Jas. Other styles provide the full book name.

In Microsoft Word there are macros.  I do not know how to write them but there are some power users on this forum.

It will only take a few minutes to get the full list of abbreviations that are used.  [just look up one verse from every book of the bible] Then the macro would search for each use of "Ge [0-9]" and change to "Gen #" [restoring the first digit of the chapter number].  The macro would need to cover all of the books but you would not have to edit the list by hand.

Suggestion on how to ask for help with the macro. Title thread something like Macro Help needed changing Ge 3 to Gen 3.

Might help if you attached a file with all of the edits that you need so the helper will not have to find all of the book abbreviations.

Ge -> Gen     through    Re -> Rev

Is there a setting that can change the default output to some other style?   [That would work better than a macro after the fact]

I appreciate all the input thus far. Three-letter book name abbreviations are common; maybe FaithLife will see fit to add them to Logos in the future.
