SUGGESTION: Mark books as "read" or "not read" in Library View
Suggestion:
I'd like to suggest that Logos add a way to mark books that you have read as "read" or "not read" or "in progress" - in the Library view of Logos 4.
I don't know if this has been suggested before but it seems to me, with the large amount of books I have available in my Library (Scholar's Gold), that it would be good to be able to tell (at a glance) in the Library view if you have read a book or not.

an easy way to do this is to tag them as you want, then you can search/sort by those fields

For decades I have used reading lists and kept a notebook to check off what I have completed. This process has failed to handle my online reading because it is inconvenient. If the Library view indicator were not obtrusive it would be nice. Otherwise a one-click indicator would be best. Add to that a summary list and it would be perfect.

That's a good work around for now. I'll give that a try. Maybe once a book has been read, the Title text could turn a different color, or a check box could be added to the left of the Title text. Just some simple indicator so that you can easily and quickly tell which books have been read - when you're looking at your entire Library in the Library view.

I have to agree with you Stein. In my office I have a rather massive stack of books to read [:$] many of them are still on the shelves but I "just know" which ones I've read and which I haven't yet.
For some inexplicable reason It's harder for me when they're just titles on the screen.
I vote for a four phase checkmark. Green=Read it. Yellow= Reading it, Red = Not going to read it and faded outline = not read yet.

I guess it would be cool of clicking finished on a reading schedule would change it, but I just envisioned manually clicking it to cycle the colors.

Sorry guys, I don't want to spoil the game, but IMHO using tags is not work around. I think tags are just for that kind of things. To manually tag books that I want to see together or create a dynamic collection with. You can see the tag if you want to in the library. I am afraid that adding all of this little things will make Logos slower and more cumbersome. Of course I have nothing against this feature, if Logos guys would see it as very easy to implement. But I see more important things to be done in Logos as for now. But that's just my opinion.

I agree, I use the tags "interesting" for books that I want to get around to reading, read for books that I am reading now, and "read2009" etc for which ones I finished and when (helps with a church report). (I don't remove the old tag just add the new). The associated collections give me the lists fairly easily. Note that the library and collection views have a column to view the tags in it. (use the view icon in the toolbar). When you sort by tags you can select the subset you want to look at. Very good engineering on the part of LOGOS, thanks.
