Digital Bulletins

I like the digital bulletin that is made from the presentation in Proclaim.

Is there a way to only have the titles used for Content slides? 

The hymns show up just as titles (I'm assuming due to copyright restrictions.)

The church I serve follows a prescribed liturgy and we project ALL the text except for three prayers that are prayed by one of the worship leaders on behalf of the congregation. 

Without the hymn texts, but including the rubrics for worship, we can easily have 300-400 slides in one worship service.

That makes it hard to use the digital bulletin. If I could use only the titles for the content slides, then people would know the elements in the upcoming Sunday's liturgy without needing to scroll through it all.

Is there a way to do this and I'm missing it?

A few thoughts....for what they are worth.

For content items, there really isn't an official title, just a slide name, which isn't the same. So, I don't know how Proclaim would be able to render this the way you want in Bulletins.

You can either delete each unwanted slide in the bulletin edit mode (which I realize you dont want to do because you have so many slides and that would take a long time), or you 

1. Create your title slide as a separate service item. The create all the content for that service item in a different service item.

2. Duplicate the presentation as, say, xyz name SHORTENED. On the duplicate,  delete the unwanted slides (which is easy in Proclaim, because you can multiselect with the shift key).

3. Then publish the shortened version as the official one to use for the bulletin.

At Holy Cross, we project the entire worship service -- hymns, readings, sermon slides, liturgical texts. I realize we might not be typical in that regard in relation to your regular customer base. It makes for a very long digital bulletin. 

Most of the texts change seasonally (Lent, Easter, Time after Pentecost, etc.) so we don't need to provide them in a digital bulletin, however on Sunday mornings (as "regular" attendance means monthly -- not weekly) we do need to project it all.

If you've got other questions, please don't hesitate to email -- I'm sure you can dig it out of my profile (BTW, I was on the phone with Trevor today about Equip, and he had me thinking back to when I first purchased Logos -- sometime in '92--'94 -- I couldn't believe it was that long ago. Keep up the great work.)

Hi Myke,

If the name of the Content element was picked up as the entry for the bulletin, I'd be fine with that.

Our biggest issue is the Content items are 1 - 31 slides in length.

Creating a duplicate presentation could work, but it would be cumbersome. We don't have title slides before each item in the liturgy during worship. (In other words, for the liturgical "Greeting" we don't display a slide that says "Greeting", followed by the text, we just display the text.) I'd have to add in the titles each week, and remove the Content items each week, making it a time-consuming process (I'd have to add 10-11 slides on a weekly basis, and I'd want the format to match the slides we're using to display -- so we'd need to make sure the custom smart media selections were applied.)

Having the name of the Content item, and being able to collapse all of the content out of the actual bulletin would be our best solution. Or, being able to add in the name of the Content element as a text addition would work too.

Hopefully Bob has some thoughts.
