New MBA processor question
I see Apple has upgraded their MBA's. The base model now has 256GB storage. What do you think of the processor? 1.1GHz dual-core 10th-generation Intel Core i3 processor.
Is it sufficient for Logos?

I am sure it will work, but I would upgrade to a quad core processor. I'd personally have to upgrade because of my library size alone.
Keep in mind that manufacturers baseline for ordinary use. Logos is still a resource hog that will use whatever you have.
I think Apple has a winner with these machines. Just make sure you get enough built in for the long haul because they can't be upgraded.

MacRumors 2020 MBA with Quad Core i5 benchmark => https://www.macrumors.com/2020/03/20/2020-macbook-air-benchmarks/ (and mentions 1.1 GHz dual-core 10th Gen i3 benchmarks currently having lots of variance => https://browser.geekbench.com/v5/cpu/search?q=macbookair9 (benchmarks for Quad Core i5 tend to be noticeably faster than Dual Core i3 so looks like $ 100 upgrade is worth considering for Logos use)

Thanks, that's really helpful!
Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Researching 10th Generation Intel Core i5 & i7 a bit more shows Quad Core i5 in new MacBook Air includes faster graphics than i3.
Initial opinion of Quad Core i7 is wait for benchmark results (compare actual % performance improvement to upgrade cost). Clock speed comparison (1.2GHz to 1.1 GHz) shows 9 % faster while $ 150 upgrade increases $ 1,499 MBA (16 GB Ram, 512 GB SSD) by 10 % to $ 1,649
Thankful for Apple reducing 2020 MBA retail pricing, which matched sale pricing of older MBA (not know if 2020 MBA will be discounted ...)

I noticed that the 2020 MacMinis are the same as the 2018 MacMinis... the difference is that the base model has 256GB SSD rather than 128. The next level has a better processor and a 512GB SSD for an additional $300.
If someone were thinking of getting the base model plus a bigger SSD ($200 uncharge), it would seem pretty smart to just get the better processor for the additional $100. Do you concur KS4J?

Thanks for the replies. It's nice to see the upgraded storage. My MBA is the original one (Mid 2011) and has served me well, (on second battery) but its getting obvious that it's days are numbered.
The cost of ownership on a Mac makes me want to stick with Apple, but I will need 256gb

One objective criteria is % performance improvement (using benchmarks) compared to % cost increase. Another is amount of planned usage.
If was shopping for 2020 MBA, then Quad Core CPU would be on my shopping list.
