Logos 8 Web App memory use

I've been keeping track of the memory usage on my computer and I've noted 2 or 3 times this week that the Web App is using 1.5-1.7 Gigabytes of ram. I'm wondering if that's by design or is it a bug?

When I close the tab, and reopen the Web App it drops to 500mb. It will then climb throughout the day under sometimes very light usage.
