I need help with root word search

Hello! I have encountered a problem and need help finding a solution.

I want to look up a root word and see all of the words that stem from the root and are used in the Bible. For example, diatheke (covenant) is a recent search I made and found the root to be theke. But, I do not see other options like suntheke nor anything else when I do a Bible Word study.

Can some one help me use the right resources in Logos to know a root word and all words that derive from the root used in Holy Scripture? This would be so valuable to studying God's Word and understanding.

Hi Cliff - and welcome to the forums

The Root section in the BWS Guide should show you the root of the word being studied and any lemmas derived from it - your example on the right in the screenshot below and an example with more derivaties is on the left

Or you could do a root search, look at the results in Analysis view and group by Lemma (and if you don't know how to do this please advise)

Do either of these give you what you want?

Regarding the first screenshot, I'm still looking for suntheke (a covenant made between mutual parties forming a mutual agreement). Specifically, reading John Murray, Murray mentions the LXX using suntheke. So, I would like to ensure I'm finding all possible lemmas of the root word. I can find suntheke in the LXX by searching for it, but I would not know it existed otherwise. I want to know all the options that exist in the biblical text, LXX and Greek NT.

Regarding the second screenshot, no I do not know how to search the root. After helping me with the first, can you advise on the second screenshot? Sounds like a good tool.

This word is only found in the LXX and it has no root. I'm not sure, but it appears that root is given only for Greek NT words.

This depends on knowing the root word. In Bible Word Study, click the root word to get the Search (in the Root section). In a bible, right click a word and select the root word on the left, then select a Search on the other side. The forms <Root = lbs/el/θηκη> and root:θηκη are functionally equivalent, but the latter can only be used in a Morph Search.
