Custom reading plan for non-Bible resources

Is there a way to make a daily reading plan for resources that doesn't involve me meticulously highlighting portions and adding sessions? 

I'd like to read a chapter a day of a book, but I can't seem to find a streamlined way of setting it up.

Not really, but It depends on the resource. FLEB titles are actually better for this than Logos edition resources. You will just have to experiment. But in all likelihood you will have to manually create the plan as you described.
