Blank lines to write in study guides

I bought a John MacArthur bible study on Romans, it is full of questions and places to fill out your answer, with blank lines, I can’t figure out how to write my text in those spots, any ideas?

"Your speech must always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person." - Colossians 4:6

    Generally, you move the mouse cursor, tap/click on a blank line and start typing. If that does not help, include a screenshot.
