I have a bit of time on my hands so I thought I would post some layouts and custom guides that may be useful to others on the forum. For starters I am going to go through my layout for Book Overview. Before I start an exegetical study of a book of the Bible, I like do an overview and Logos provides some great tools to bring me the resources in my library that I may otherwise miss.

it is a three pane layout as follows:

The left pane has the Factbook linked to my Topic Guide. The center is my preferred Bible and the right is where all the resources should open up. I have the Lexham Bible Dictionary there as it will alway have an article on books of the Bible.

The Factbook:

This i really the starting place for overview of Books of the Bible as it is already set up to provide just the type of information most of us want to start with: authorship, overviews, dating, context... It brings to your attention great resources and information. Click on any of the links and if you set up the layout as shown above it should open the resource on the far right. Click on any bible links in that resource and your Bible in the center should open to that pericope. Start here for your Bible Book overviews.

Next is the Topic Guide in the same pane and linked to the Factbook. If you want to dig further into your library this is the place to go. To really capitalize on your library you will need to have collections set up for some of your monographs. You can either tag them or set up rules in a collection. You can find some recommendations at the following links:

Here is my Topic Guide with additional sections for my collections:

Here are a few of those sections expanded to show the additional resources brought to my attention regarding the book of Job. These sections are searching headings, not bible verses so the articles are really quite specific to the task.

Hopefully this has provided a few ideas to assist in the Bible Book overview when starting an exegetical study. I will post my exegetical study layout next. It is important to understand how to set up collections or tagging as well as customizing your guides. Let me know if you have questions or suggestions.
