KYLE: Quran with Christian Commentary
The referencing for the Commentary volume in this recently released work (Quran with Christian Commentary) is different than commentaries for the Bible. In a biblical commentary I can hover over the reference and get a preview of the verse, but when i do that in this commentary on the Quran, I get a preview of the section in the commentary. It's self-referencing for most of the links i sampled. Here's a screen shot to clarify:

This is intended behaviour. The same thing will happen when the highest prioritized resource in your library is a Bible commentary and not a Bible. You can solve this by going to the library pane and prioritize a Quran (translation or Arabic text) of your choice:

I have a problem with the commentary always linking to itself. In some cases it makes sense because the links are specifically intended to be links to other/additional commentary within the commentary resource of the QWCC set. But the commentary resource often refers to other verses in the Quran for analysis and/or comparison and the commentary doesn't contains the full text of the linked verses-it only contains snippets. In fact, the commentary may not contain the linked verse at all because it doesn't even comment on every verse. But making it worse is that the in the commentary, all the links are self referencing even if the text resource is prioritized and the commentary resource is not.
The only way I've been able to get links in the commentary resource working correctly, is to make sure neither of the resources in the set are prioritized AND I have a tab set up for the text resource with it set as the target for Quran links. When set up like this, all links work as they should, with links to other Quran verses linking to the text resource, and links to additional commentary linking to the commentary resource.

Could you give me a specific example? It sounds like intended behavior but I feel like I might be missing something.

Screen-Shot 01 shows my position in the commentary. It contains the two links I'll use to demonstrate the linking behavior I've been experiencing. The first link I'll use from Screen-Shot 01 is "Tampering with the Pre-Islamic Scriptures", near the bottom of the screen shot. It should (and does) link to the appropriate location in the commentary, as can be seen by Screen-Shot 02. The second link I'll use from Screen-Shot 01 is for verse 4.46. Screen shots 03 through 06 shows the linking behaviors experienced without any Quran resources prioritized followed by what has happened when selecting the QWCC text resource for prioritization.
SCREEN-SHOT 01 (My location in the commentary)
SCREEN-SHOT 02 (Result from selecting the link for "Tampering with the Pre-Islamic Scriptures)
SCREEN-SHOT 03 (Result from selecting the link for 4.46 without any Quran resources prioritized. Iinked to "The Meaning of the Holy Quran.)
SCREEN-SHOT 04 (Shows highlighting the QWCC Text resource and dragging it to the list of prioritized resources. I think this is where a wrinkle occurred. Will come back to that.)
SCREEN-SHOT 05 (Shows the commentary linking back to itself when selecting the link for 4.46, even though I had selected the Text resource for prioritization.)
SCREEN-SHOT 06 (Shows that after creating a duplicate tab for the QWCC Text resource and making it the Target for links, that clicking the 4.46 link did link to the QWCC Text Resource. HOWEVER, this is where it got a little confusing, because the popup window created by just hovering over the tab did not display 4.46 from the QWCC Text resource--it displayed the commentary for 4.46 from the Commentary resource. I.e. Hovering over the link displayed the commentary resource. Clicking on the link jumped to the text resource. But I can't capture the screen while the popup window is displayed, so I can't show that.)
I don't understand at all why the resource titled "The Meaning of the Quran" is the text resource being used by default for verse links. But in my attempt to recreate the scenario, I noticed that after selecting the QWCC Text resource and dragging it to the priority panel, that it was shown in bold in the panel. It's now my impression that even though I highlighted just the text resource (as shown in SCREEN-SHOT 04) and dragged just the Text resource to the priority panel, that the commentary resource came with it and that's why the entry was showing up in bold text in the prioritized list. I also assume that resulted in the commentary resource being prioritized ahead of the text resource, which in turn caused the behavior I was seeing with verse links. I.e. Hovering over the verse link, linked back to the commentary in the popup window (even though the text resource was selected as the target for links), while actually clicking on the link woke Logos up to the fact that the Text resource had been set up as the target for links. It seems to me that whether hovering over a link or clicking the link, both operations should be looking at the same resource.

You'll notice that currently Quran with Christian Commentary is listed as a two volume set. Because the text and do not have the same coverage they're interfering with one another.
I separated these so they're no longer thought of as a single series. This should eliminate the interference between the two and allow them to scroll side by side.
It will also allow you to prioritize between both the text and the commentary. If you prioritize the commentary links like "4.46" in screenshot 05 will navigate to the commentary. If you prioritize the text over the commentary the link for "4.46" will take you to the text.
I mentioned this in the other thread but I just made the change so it hasn't worked its way through the system yet.

I'm not sure what is meant by "on a case by case basis", but I hope it will be given serious consideration for the QWCC Quran text. As with the Bible, any resource referencing the Quran typically does so by chapter (surah) and verse. In the QWCC Quran text, the embedded verse numbers blend right in with the text making them hard to locate compared to having a "one verse per line" visual filter, or even if the verse numbers were highlighted in bold within the text.Kyle G.
