Please tell me how to achieve this persistent layout?

I am hoping and trusting that with God and Logos/Verbum, all basic layout ideas are possible. I have searched for what I need, and the closest I found so far, for what I think would be the most difficult part, was a 2013 tutorial webpage whose instructions didn't work for me. So, someone, please help me? To a degree (so far) I have been able to achieve some of the layout workspaces in the Android app, so I trust that in the full Windows program, this will be possible.

I would like to have two full screen workspaces (I hope that is the right word), each with a particular layout that I set that doesn't have windows automatically get closed or overwritten or resized by workflows, even when I click on a word to bring it up in a dictionary/lexicon. I would use the one screen layout for Bible study, and the other one for Early Church or Aquinas writings study. Each section would contain a number of tabbed resources of a specific type. I will try to attach graphics of each layout.

Regarding this part of your request, we can't combine resources into a single resource but we can create collections of multiple resources and then search the collection.

In the screenshot below I have created a Collection of the two resources you mention and when I search it I get results from both resources.. Does this help at all?

And if you don't know how to do any of the above, please advise

This is similar to the series I created called "OL Bible" {OL = Original Language}. In the Library display enter the same text in the Series field of each resource. In your graphic, you would need a separate series for each pair.

Your goal looks like my layout. The only major difference is I have a screen for research lexica and searches as the first screen. This allows the system to 'stack' searches, BWS's etc in a predictable place ... tabbed lexica panels for each of the 5-6 original languages. Then a screen for OT, one for NT containing the various texts by language, varients, and supporting CitedBys. Finally, a dictionary screen for the major ones, and a multiview commentary screen for the commentaries.

To get what you want, Jack's 'series' above does the trick ... you want 2 'series' as you describe.

Thanks for the replies so far. I had already made a collection, but on my screen, I see no way to open the collection for browsing or searching. I'll post a shot of my Library Window, in which (which some difficulty) I found a way to view the collection. I don't have the button that Jack's graphic's red arrow pointed to, and I can't find a way to open the right side pane/panel/area in the Library that contains that graphic.

Ok, I found I could right click on one of the items in the collection, which is showing in my Library screen, and choose search. Not really intuitive, but but better than nothing. So I right-clicked on Lexham Greek-English Interlinear Septuagint...(Alternate), clicked search, and typed Mt 3:2 (because as a collection it should be united to the NT resource), and it gave one search result: from the Lexham English Bible, not the Lexham Greek-English Interlinear. When I clicked on it, of course it didn't open any of the books in my "Collection," it opened the English-only resource. What am I missing? I can't seem to right click on the collection to search that, and what I really want anyway is to have the collection open in a tab, in whose search box I can enter any Bible verse from the OT or NT and have it open there.

In a search window, click the link that will probably have the name of your Bible and then enter the name of your collection / series in the filter box. Then choose the actual name from the dropdown box and search that

I found a way to view the collection.

An ideal way to view a collection is from the Collections Tool. It is here you can change its composition

I can't find a way to open the right side pane/panel/area in the Library that contains that graphic.

The result from the Lexham English Bible is, I believe, due to the fact that is your highest prioritised Bible.

But your search example makes me slightly unsure what you are trying to do. Are you looking for Logos to position itself in the correct place if you specify either an NT or OT verse? If so, you are better doing this by setting up a series as others have suggested above.

I have a series called "OL Bibles" comprising a Hebrew and Greek text. If I have the Greek text open as below

- and enter a verse from the OT, the Hebew text is used

This is relatively straighforward.

In the screenshow below I have set up Logos with a set of resources in the main workspace and another (slightly reduced from your diagram but it could have extended) in a floating window. Saving that as a layout enables me to restore it when required

Adding to Graham's example, my screens are more involved, mainly for research and use Logos7 (I have L8 but not installed).

As above, I group the screens, so that word usage (lexica, analytics, etc), searches, and translation choices over time are on the first screen, OT texts on the second, NT texts on the third, and commentaries (multiview) on the fourth. Altogather, the layout accesses about 150 resources, but quite efficient.

When I zoomed in on your screenshots, and saw that you had made a layout showing almost exactly what I hoped to achieve in mine, I felt a little surge of joy, my heart started beating faster, and it all went up as a prayer of thanks and blessing for you and the others who have been helping me, and all who made this possible at Faithlife.

I had been interpreting the words collection and series as two words for the same thing, but I gather from your last reply that they are different.

Re., "The result from the Lexham English Bible is, I believe, due to the fact that is your highest prioritised Bible," what surprised me most was that the Lexham Greek-English Interlinear didn't even get a search result, when only its resources were in that collection. I think there must be a bug, but you are right that it turns out that for some reason the Lexham English Bible was set as only prioritized Bible with both Testaments.

Re., "your search example makes me slightly unsure what you are trying to do," I wish to have under one tab one combined browseable and searchable Lexham Greek-English Bible, so that if I enter any Biblical verse reference, it will take me there, and if I search for a word, such as "pisteuw" or "faith," it will show all the results from the Old Testament (incl. the 7 deuterocanonicals/apocrypha) and the New Testament.

When I have time later today, I will reread the above instructions for making series.

Thanks to you all, I have managed to get the three columns of Bible study resources in my main workspace/window, and I have one patristic resource in a floating window, but I can't find a way to add more columns/rows to the floating window. I guess I just need to try right clicking everywhere in the floating window until I find the layout functionality for floating windows. (The layout icon isn't at the top in that window.) I read the layout article, which is good, but it doesn't address floating windows. Any further tips on that are much appreciated.

Try dragging a resource from your main workspace to the floating window. Before releasing the cursor move it to various positions in the floating window and you'll see a shape showing where it would appear if you dropped it. You can use this technique to position resources where you want them.

So here you are best using a series.

In the screenshot below I have a series called "Greek Texts" comprising the NA27 and a LXX resource (you could add other resources to this as you require)

Running a search on this series produces hits in both resources and entering a NT reference in the OT resource will move to that NT reference and vice versa

Thanks for sharing. Wow, 150 resources is a lot. Actually I'd love to do something similar but I usually find myself using a laptop by itself and I'm not sure how that would work. I wonder how I could use a single screen more efficiently?

I have a couple of screen at home right now because of the lock-down but that is not the norm for me.

I'm really not sure. I'm on a laptop, but W7. Don't know about W10. With W7, Windows would stack the Logos screen icons in sequence, and L7 would also keep the same order. So, it's easy with multiple. I'll probably run my laptop into the grave (mine). He no longer is allowed on the web, and has to chat with Libby.
