Is the Quickstart Panel on the Home Page available in Logos 8?

I am watching the DVD on the Jonah study and I really like how his homepage looks.   Particularly on the left he has a panel which is headed:  Quickstart for Logos 7.     I would love to copy this but not sure if this feature is available on Logos 8.

The Logos 7 homepage layouts can not be reproduced in Logos 8.

I believe the Quickstart for Logos 7 feature you reference just linked to the Logos 7 quickstart resource. Logos 8 has it's own quickstart resource, which you probably already have access to. Check in your library for "QuickStart for Logos 8". You could drag that to your shortcut bar if you wanted quick access to it.

Layouts menu in Logos 8 includes QuickStart

Hovering mouse on a QuickStart Layout causes a drop down circle to appear:

    • Load
    • Replace with current layout
    • Restore default layout

One idea is opening a QuickStart Layout, customize it, followed by Replacing QuickStart Layout (for future use).

Thank you so much for both of the replies.    Although I have had Logos 4 for many years, I never really used it to it's full capacity.    I recently purchased an upgrade to Logos 8 and decided to try and understand some of the features better.   The problem is that all the teaching videos and bible studies on video use a different version to the one I have so I'm finding it extremely slow trying to figure out how to do what he did on mine (if that makes sense)

I particularly liked the home screen the man who does the Jonah videos had.   He had a narrow panel on the left of the screen which was headed Quickstart Logos 7 and underneath he had many of the feature which are on the dashboard, such as Prayer Lists, Courses, Reading Plans and under each heading there was a list of all his active prayers, courses and reading plans.  The rest of the screen was similar to a newspaper in the sense that it had all different panels which were obviously custom chosen.   Similar to the "Explore" section on my homepage but his wasn't related to buying more items they were interesting video clips, his recent reading lists.       I love how it's all arranged and would just like to know how to replicate it.      I'm beginning to think I should have purchased Logos 7 instead of 8.

I have figured out how to do the study screen which you have so kindly explained above, it's the page you get when you click on the little house that I would like to customise.

There are a lot of training videos available at https://support.logos.com/hc/en-us/sections/360001775112-Videos-and-Tutorials most of which were produced for Logos 8.

    Sorry - I realise I didn't comment on this.

Yes, there was quite a redesign of the homepage for Logos 8 and a lot of people expressed similar concerns as you have.

Have you looked at using the Dashboard section of the homepage?

    Hi Graham

Thank you so much for your help with this.   I was afraid that's what you were going to say.   I think I was used to the type of layout I see in the Logos 7 when I still had the Logos 4 and I must say I do prefer that homepage, however I am trying to get to grips with the dashboard as it is, I find it to be much more complicated.    I would like to add shortcuts to the current studies I am doing which are not listed in the preset ones.     I have watched a video but perhaps I just didn't take it all in as much as I thought I had.     I've watched so many video's lately my brain is on overload.    For instance I must have watched the notes video about 3 times and I still haven't got my head around it.    Even the training video's that are supposed to be for Logos 8 never seem to be the same version as the one I have.   Drives me nuts.

I wish I could just pop and attend a class on how to use my Logos properly, but since I live in England, that's not likely to happen I don't think.

Thank you so much for your patience and help.

    Many blessings to you

That is so funny that you live in England too.    I'm in Newark, which town are you in?

I don't know why I'm so surprised that other British people would have Logos, I guess it must be available to buy here.    I bought my Logos 4 in 2005 when I was living in Florida.   I moved back to England when my husband passed away in 2008, I stayed for 4 years after and then decided to move back here.    I am British, my husband was American.

I'm really regretting upgrading actually.   I think Logos 4 was much easier to use.  haha, I'm not super computer savvy either so that may have something to do with it.   Oh well I shall persevere, maybe one of these days I'll master it.

Thank you again so much for your help.

Personally like Right Click (context menu) change in Logos 8.7 RC 2 “Gold” that flipped left and right usage (now flows from right to left instead of previous left to right).

Logos 4 could only have one Library tab open while Logos 8 can have more than one. Another major change between Logos 4 and Logos 8 is Notes & Highlighting so now every highlight is a note.

Logos wiki has => Logos Downloads Archive that has older, unsupported, Logos & Verbum download links, which may be usable (if encounter any issue, only option is forum discussion with other users).

Thankful can use Logos & Verbum at the same time. Logos 7 & Verbum 7 both had Quickstart Layouts on the Home Page (left side) with blog content being different.

Thankful for many visual filters created using Logos 4 still work in Logos 8.

Sounds like Libby! (aka Libronix). Logos4 (lovingly renamed Molassas4) was in 2009. Yes, Libby in 2005 was (and is) still superior to the later versions.
