When does 30% on packages end? And does this mean Logos 9 is near?

I know answers may have to be speculative, but interested in any opinions that might help me make decisions. Considering buying the Ordinariate Bronze for two books I need.

Thanks in advance. =)

I think it ends on the 15th.

    It ends on May 15.

Logos 9 will likely be released this Fall.

    Thanks.

When you say "Fall," is that in the USA? So that would be October'ish?

Yep. Usually (not always), late October.

Well, if it is released this Fall, hopefully, purchasing a Platinum this year will allow for a discounted price. I recall that happening when I upgraded to Verbum Silver shortly before version 8 came out. (I'm shameless in looking for discounts and free stuff)

Ah, I had forgotten about that. Sales would credit you a portion of your old version price if it had been purchased within so many days of the new version.

Good reminder, but I don’t remember how much the discount could be, or how many days it had to be. 90? 180?

Thanks to FL for including Carta and a Hebrew audio bible in Logos 9!

Well, I see I had bought Verbum 7 Silver on 8/2/18, and Verbum 8 Silver on 10/29/18. I had no idea that 8 was coming out when I upgraded 7, though I do recall joking on the forums that we were probably due an upgrade since I just bought it.

If it's 180 days, my purchase of Orthodox Platinum, Anglican Silver and Ordinariate Silver might qualify (if they do it this time). If less, then maybe not

If the price is right on stuff you want, it's a buy. When the next version comes out, the packages invariably change and some stuff will get moved in or out on a comparable package.

If there are things you want in a package at 30% off, I would say to go ahead and buy now.  Whenever Logos 9 comes out the packages will be reworked and the resources you want might not be in the new packages.  I came in on Logos 3 and this has been the case every time a new version has come out.

    Hi,

I am considering buy Logos 8 (one of the basic packages) but do you find it difficult to use?  I have Swordseacher and quiet like it but it is a bit dated,  Don't know what to do.

    God bless

Shalom Stu and welcome to the forums!

Your question reminds me of a quote I recently read about the Gospel of John: "[it] is shallow enough for a baby to wade in, but deep enough for an elephant to drown."

Logos can be overwhelming but in the end I do not think that it is more difficult to use than Swordsearcher or any other Bible software.

Have you already "bought" the free Logos 8 Basic package? If you want to get a feel of the software before installing it on your computer you can try out the web app first: app.logos.com (just sign in with your Logos account).

There are also many training videos available:

Take the plunge, mate! Logos is definitely worth the cost and effort. The more effort you put in, the more you will get out. But this is a long-term solution for Bible study and resources and the basic features are quite easy to use. =)

Logos is the best out there! Just with the simple functions it has (e.g. enter a passage, topic, etc. in the command box) you get so much out of it when the Passage Guide opens and/or the exegetical guide. Add to that Bible Word study guide, sermon starter guide and you’re pretty much set.  If you want to get fancy with complex searches or other stuff, there are plenty of videos out there to help you learn.  So take advantage of this great discount if you can.  We don’t see 30% off very often, it’s usually 20% 👍😁👌

Considering buying the Ordinariate Bronze for two books I need.

May want to consider first purchasing Logos 8 Fundamentals that is on sale for $ 49.99 for dynamic price reduction of Ordinariate Bronze

Fundamentals has some resources that are in Ordinate Bronze

    • Christian Standard Bible (CSB)
    • English Standard Version (ESV)
    • Lexham English Bible (LEB)
    • The Holy Bible: King James Version (KJV)
    • Lexham Bible Dictionary
    • The New Manners and Customs of the Bible
    • Connect the Testaments: A 365-Day Devotional with Bible Reading Plan
    • Various datasets and features

If purchase of Logos 8 Fundamentals for $ 49.99 reduces dynamic price of Ordinariate Bronze by $ 50, then stuff in Logos 8 Fundamentals that is not in Ordinariate Bronze is essentially free (could be worthwhile if Fundamentals has a usable resource: e.g. The Treasury of Scripture Knowledge (for cross references).

Whether that works out will depend partially on what you already own, but it is a good idea. If you email sales, they can tell you the price for both.

Thanks. Yeah, I've already got L8 Gold and a few other packages so Ordinariate is using a lot of dynamic pricing already. =)
