Universal View Settings

I study on my laptop at home and when I get to the office I hook up to a second monitor. I tend to have more packed on to my laptop screen when I'm portable, but in my office, I blow things up because I have much more real estate. But every resource I open has a different view setting ...and it drives me nuts...

Is there a way to set a universal view setting?

I know you can do custom layouts, but that doesn't do any good when you open a new resource. I wish I could just have two preset view settings (desktop & laptop)...but I'd settle for all resources to go back to a default view each time.

Perhaps you can explain what you mean by "blow things up"  and "different view setting", especially as you think that custom layouts don't work.

Anticipating the place for new Resources to open can be a guessing game, but you can drag them into the required location.

Your custom layout could comprise a main window and a floating window which opens on the second monitor in your office i.e. drag it there and save the layout. Your Startup setting should be "Most recent layout - any" if you want to share the layout i.e. close Logos before you open it in a new location (home or office).

Here is an example. For some reason the last time I had Word Pictures in the New Testament (LEFT) open I had the font very small. The BKC (RIGHT) is at my preferred size. Is there a way to have every resource open automatically with the appearance on the right?

Open the Panel Menu (top right of a resource) and adjust the font slider to get the required size. Close and re-open it to set that size.

yes, but that setting is not universal across references. That’s the solution I’m looking for...

Does the "Content Scaling" setting in Program Settings provide what you need?

the content scaling works very well when resources are all set at the same level, typically I line mine up on the 6th mark (see below):

But some resources have been set at other positions in the past, like the example below:

While it is small beans, it is just annoying when a resource is blown up or shrunk down for some odd reason. There are unique circumstances when I need to manually adjust a resource's viewing size (e.g. if I'm screen sharing in a small room or taking a screenshot of a larger than normal amount of text, etc.) but most of the time It's best to keep things as uniform as possible.

Really what I'm asking is if there is a way to set every resource to a default position so that once it is closed out it reverts back to that position.

p.s. I apologize for making a big deal out of this, hopefully, I'm not just being a crazy-pants

This is  a see-saw. You prefer a setting of 6 at 100% Content Scaling? You could have achieved a universal default by setting scaling to 120/140 and use the slider for exceptions. Now you will have to decide if slider 6 is sufficiently universal that Content Scaling creates more work, or manually correct where the slider was set lower than 6.

I guess that's the answer I was looking for. I'm not concerned with where the slider is set, I wanted to know if there was a way for all resources to default back to the same position on the slider, for uniformity sake.

    I guess not.

I get what you're saying and badly wish that Logos had this feature. It's tedious having to set the same column and font size settings for each resource in our library, especially when we have thousands of resources. It would be nice to have a master view setting in the program control panel that lets us decide if we want all of our resources to be scrolling, 2 column, 3 column, font size, etc and apply that across the entire library.

+1 [Y] for ability to reset all resources back to 100 % default view (for a number of forum & Faithlife screen shots have manually changed 100 % to something else to fit resource content within one window).
