TYPO: Cambridge Commentary - Timothy & Titus
I already reported this typo, but I'm hopeful someone may have this in hard copy and can tell me what the garbled text actually says.
Abp Trench adds: ‘This chrestotes was so predominantly the character of Christ’s ministry that it is nothing wonderful to learn from Tertullian (Apol. 3) how ‘Christus’ became ‘Chrestus,’ and ‘Christiani’ ‘Chrestiani, on the lips of the heathen—with the undertone, it is true, of contempt.’
A. E. Humphereys, The Epistles to Timothy and Titus, with Introduction and Notes, The Cambridge Bible for Schools and Colleges (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1895), 231.
Assuming "Abp" can't be what was printed, can anyone supply the correct text? Thanks.

Abp is an abbreviation for Archbishop, I think. Trench was the archbishop of Dublin.
Google "Abp Trench" and you'll get lots of hits like this:

Period would have helped. Thanks for the insight.
Given I frequently see a hyperlinked note for abbreviations in my Logos resources, what is the rule of thumb for how they are employed? Is this an abbreviation that has been overlooked, or does it not fit the rules for being noted?

"Abp" is what's used in the text. We're only able to provide abbreviation tagging when the text itself provides the explanation for the abbreviations used throughout.
