Where do these notes come from?

I have a notebook with several notes in it. Some of these notes are from a different author and have a lock icon. Hovering over the lock displays the text: "You can only view this note"
How did I get these notes? How can I get rid of them ("delete this note" is greyed out)?

Sounds like they are from a notebook you downloaded.
Would that explain it?

Hi Graham,
You are right: I had this Notebook for many, many years. Then I lost it and redownloaded it from another forum member (James) who still had it. And the re-download contained newer notes from James
