NIV on iphone?
I'm sorry, this may have been covered hundred's of times but I am new to Logos. Is the NIV not available to read on the iphone? If so, where do I find it.
Also, is there a way to JUST look at available Bibles without all of the other books?
Thanks for your help.

surprisingly, Logos doesn't have the NIV licensing for the iPhone yet. Not sure why. They do have other Zondervan products.
I don't know of a great way to find your bibles, but one way is to do search for "type:bible" and that will narrow your fields. That will also include other books, but most will be bibles of various kinds (even greek manusript fragments)

if you have a favorite Bible of that list, you can also download it and access it when you want to. your iphone app keeps a list of recently used Bibles, too, which will make access your favorite easier.

this thread will give you more information on it, including from the president of Logos, Bob Pritchett:

you can do searches of the forum for threads that deal with the topic you are interested in. Sometimes they are hard to find. But I found that by searching "NIV iphone." Might help you in the future when you have a question.

If the hold up truly is with Zondervan, then I wonder if they are waiting to liscence the "new" NIV coming out Early 2011 because, if I understand Biblica's position correctly, they will not be granting any more liscences for the current NIV after the release of new translation. (At least this is my father-in-laws understanding and discussions with Zondervan after trying to obtain a liscence for future products with the current translation. My father-in-law is an editor at a small Christian publishing house.)
Rant Alert: Scary thought, this new NIV. I really do not like how Biblica is handling everything - so secretive about the whole gender neutrality thing. Last time I checked the website, it said they still have not made a decision on how they would handle it. Come on, this is not being forthright. How could they be so long in the process, with a due date coming in mere months, and not have a decision made regarding how they will handle gender issues in the new translation? I am very disheartened to see how this whole new translation is being handled.

I mentioned "Biblica" in my previous post. Really the "CBT" has control over the translation right now. Biblica is sponsoring the project and will be the rights holder of the new translation, but they are not translating it per se. Here is the web site regarding the new NIV: http://nivbibleupdate.com/

I read on a blog site only a week or so ago, by one of the NIV team, that he is heading off for some weeks to meetings for the NIV project. If I understand that correctly, at face value, this is the very thing to do to settle matters like gender etc. I trust they have the project in good hands, and I look forward to the results in 2011.
I expect its common for a translation committee to decide a "position", and then the project works to that plan.
I look forward to the new NIV (2011), and I hope its a good work, to add to the many works we already have access to. Assuming its well received, and not "broken" somehow, I would expect to buy it in paper and Logos formats. I like the NIV,as it was my first bible as an adult. (I had an RSV as a kid)
I have seen or heard nothing about the update to the EBC, except that one was being worked on. Makes we wonder if it will go to print based on the NIV (2011).

That's a good thought, could be what is happening.

Except that several of the volumes are already available in print and have been for some time.

YES. Its a strange thing, but hard facts often settle a matter!
(Thanks Ron, for the info re new EBC. I remember as I was buying some of the originals in print in 1982,3,4 that they came out over a few years as the work was completed.)

I appreciate the help. Too bad that I can't use the NIV bible on my phone...but maybe that'll come soon. That means I still have 2 Bible apps on my phone. "Olive Tree" for NIV and now Logos for the other ones i use.
