What's the shortest of all the citation styles. I'd like something that yields just the author, resource name, and page/reference.
Thanks.
MLA, generally.
Your question is a bit of a non sequitur though. If you're submitting a paper you should first find out the acceptable options.
Parenthetical citations, footnotes, endnotes...?

We are NOT doing research for anyone but our-self But it would by nice if we did something to remember where we found interesting 'stuff'. So, even with just us as the only reader using a citation in our note might be a useful thing to do. [Then, some time from now, when we need to re-find something we will be able to find the source. Then we will need to 'find out the acceptable options' but for now just something simple works.]
Thanks
Myke Harbuck = David Ames ??
I mentioned "acceptable options" since publishers/institutions have their own stipulations.

Did I step on your toes? Sorry. Was trying to say that even when we are writing for our selves we should still note where we got the information by using citations.
