Need Help Organizing My Notes/Highlights/Tags

Hi all,

I am relatively new to Logos - and Bible note-taking in general - and am trying to develop a system to organize everything. Right now, the only notes I have for my Bible study are hand-written and I keep them in a binder. I want to get all of my notes into Logos as well as start marking things up for the particular topics that are near and dear to me.

I don't need help with the mechanics, per se. I understand how to make a note, how to make a notebook, how to highlight stuff. It's how to implement these things to meet my goals that I need help with. I'm hoping you guys can help me get organized.

My Bible Study Notes

As I'm reading through my notes, I see a few different types resurfacing - questions I want to seek answers to, contextual notes/ background info, thoughts that might come to me from the text but are not in the text, and finally, the author's original intent for this passage. I think what I should do here is make a notebook for each book of the Bible, add notes to those, and color code them somehow. Does that sound right?

Answering Tough Questions

One of my kids who is in college has recently come to me seeking answers to tough questions. I sit with her once a week and we study things like how can a loving God send people to Hell or can we sin when we get to Heaven or can people who end up in Hell be saved? I have found that most of these questions can be answered by chapters in systematic theology textbooks. But, how could I highlight/tag/whatever the verses that build the answers to our questions so we can go back and look at htem later?

Topical Study

For me, the main topics I am trying to study and gain wisdom on right now are manhood, fatherhood, and marriage. I also have a passion for apologetics, so I'm always looking for examples or prescriptive verses where we are told to be able to give reasons for what we believe. I'm also passionate about ambassadorship. Learning how to relate the gospel message to others and, in particular, have patience while they grow. I have NO idea how I could start organizing my research and findings on these topics.

I know there is no "best way". But, any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

    What might help is to know that you can search for highlight styles with {Highlight palette/stylename} and you can search for Labels that you associate with a highlight style e.g. {Label Topical Study WHERE Topic = Manhood}

    Labels are more flexible because they can have multiple Attributes like Topic above, and you need only one Highlight style for Topical Study. Similarly, you can have a Tough Questions label and search for questions with {Label Tough Questions WHERE Question ~ "Loving God and Hell"}

    You can create Notebooks in the Note tool, and assign certain Highlight Palette's to that notebook as well. This provides the added benefit of making highlights aimed at whatever category you have them assigned to something you can disable and enable in resources.
