How to exclude terms from tagging?

Hi, I'm using reftagger on MediaWiki 1.34. It works, but I have problems, when I have for example such verse formats:

- 1 Joh 4:5;6 (this would work)

- 1 Joh 4:5 TR; 6 (the verse 6 will not work)

-1 Joh 4:5[1]; 6 (the verse 6 will not work)

I need to put such terms like "TR" or "NA" sometimes between the verses, for marking them specifically as "textus receptus" or "Nestle Aland". Also the "[1]" or "[2]" I need to put for references below.

When I customize the tagger at https://faithlife.com/products/reftagger/customize , at the bottom in advanced setting there is written "Tags to exclude" and "classes to exclude".

I tried, but it didn't help. So what exactly do I have to do, to make the reftagger ignore specific terms like in the example above?

Reftagger will not do what you want as it is, if you put a TR in a reference, it will think it has hit the end of the reference.

However you could use css as in the following very ugly hack. It will be a bit more work for you, but it may do what you want.

Eg to add a TR before John 5:2 in the below example, you can apply a margin to the 2nd anchor which reftagger creates, and then apply a negative margin to the TR to bring it back. Depending on your font/scale/reference etc you will have to play with the em values.

You could also just link manually but that is probably even more work, although would be precise.

I have not used MediaWiki, so don't know if you actually can play with the html, if not then ignore all this.

Edit - Thinking about it, you could copy reftagger generated html without the TR in the reference, then manually paste all that code in the page rather than the reference, then you can add TRs NAs and whatnot as required. This would be a better option than my fudge above.
