Ok, I don't know where else to put this, but here goes. I received today the logos tech tip on the Canvas doc tool. I previously did not know it existed. Anyway, I was thrilled as it perfectly captures the first step in my Bible study workflow. I always start by importing into MS Word and manipulating the text so as to make the thought flow easily visible. "What a great idea to have it built right into Logos?" (I have always hated having to go back and forth between Logos and Word.) There were even useful shapes!
But despite the great potential, I found its implementation to be second class. The interface is clunky. Some actions that should be a snap, like getting rid of the non-biblical parts that get imported with the text (editorial headings, chapter titles, etc.) are not intuitive and downright irritating. And worse of all it is glacially slow! And before you suggest it, it is not the computer's fault. My new Ryzen 7 is pretty snappy with graphics-intensive tasks, Almost everything can be done in Word faster and easier (and I use the ancient 2007 version).
Don't get me wrong, I am not writing this as a rant against Logos or Faithlife, I LOVE Logos and have been continually using it since something like Logos 1.6. I think this could be a fantastic feature, but I think it is a mistake to release features that are not mature enough to be useful. So give it the programming attention it deserves. Maybe someday I'll come back an try it again. But for now, (sigh) I guess it is back to Word. Nuff said.
