typing notes in note file

Does anyone know if the problem of a lag in typing in notes has been fixed yet. I still have the problem, especially in larger note files. I have done what was told me in past posts, but it still doesn't work and it is really frustrating. My next step will be to just use OneNote and paste it into the note file. But come on, this shouldn't be the answer.

The lag I experienced with earlier versions of a L4 has been much improved. I do sometimes get a more noticable lag when I have a lot of resources open. I think the changes that we have seen to date are probably all we'll see for a while. There was some disucssion a while back about addressing some issues with the notes feature. Maybe we'll see something in the next Beta.

Some of us have rarely run into a lag - and believe me I'm not running a state of the art system. There is no way that Logos can get notes to have no lag on all systems and all situations. The question needs to be refined to "Is Logos still refining the Notes input ... and does my system/layout fit within the systems that will benefit by this refinement?" My point being that one needs to expand the responsibility beyond Logos code to include your hardware, your system and your use of Logos. All can be an element of poor preformance.

Pretty bad lag here also in any note file. I think some serious work needs to be done to fix this. There are a myriad of notation software out there that do not lag, even with rich formatting (try WordPad with 40 windows open)... so it most certainly can be done on nearly any hardware that will run Logos.

Quite true. But are they auto-linking Scripture, indexing for searches and creating a synchronous off-site backup? When I do experience a lag, which is not frequently, I can look at what I am doing and tell you why I've got a lag.

I am still having bad lag time when I use L4. This lag time happens when I have just L4 open with just a note file. FYI... My computer is just a couple of years old, and L4 is the only program that I experience lag time.

Sure, there's a lot going on in the background, no doubt about it. I'm just saying there are ways to deal with that so it does not cause lag time, especially on a fast machine. Background processes can be delayed during direct keyboard input, for example. The Logos developers certainly know what they're doing and i'm confident they'll figure this out. I just run into this issue so much because i make pretty extensive use of the note system (and love it otherwise).

I made good use of the Note files in Libronix, I had hundreds of Note files, and adopted a method of copious quick highlighting and key linking in key resources, but I seem to keep hitting time lags when trying to do the same in Logos 4, despite having a state of the art laptop ( ie 8 GB RAM etc) . Is there something which can be done to make the Note files run more smoothly? Or am I missing something, doing something wrong? Is Logos 4 faltering due to syncrhonisation of changes in Note files? If so, then should this be happening several times a sentence, or at least every couple of minutes?

If there is no way of speeding up the background synchronisation processes, then would a compromise be to give the user control over when this takes place, so for example the Note file only syncrhonises when the User is ready and prepared for the time lag and instigates it?

The thing that has helped me most, was something Kevin suggested, that is to turn off the note file you are using on the visual filter drop down menu. You will not be able to see the colored box beside the verse, but that is a small price for being able to type at a normal speed. This helped me much more than turning the internet off.

A lot of the problem is the keyboard. I notice each time I press a key while writing L4 notes, both of my CPUs shoot up to 100% until I stop touching the keyboard. By not touching the keyboard seems to correct the problem.

I have a 2010 MBP with 8gb of ram and a 7200rpm harddrive. I experience a great deal of lag in notes files. The larger the note, the longer the lag. Indexing doesn't seem to adequetely explain it, either. The same size book in my library will experience much less lag. This is one of several issues I noted in the thread at:
